• Annual Reports -- free perusal, some in .pdf format. Search by company name, ticker symbol , exchange, industry or sector. Downloadable and printable annual reports from Fortune 500 companies (though some only in Adobe Acrobat format)
• Business.com Company Center -- includes news, profiles, list of executives, and financial information on 10,000 U.S. companies.
• CNNfn-- financial news from CNN--stock markets reports for US and elsewhere,  currency, commodities, other financials, updated several times an hour.
• Columbia Journalism Review's Who Owns What -- guide to what major media companies own, as well as full-text articles from the Columbia Journalism Review
• Competitor Intelligence Strategies & Tools -- contains information  that outline the steps in intelligence gathering, Internet resources for intelligence gathering, and an intelligence dictionary; from Fuld & Co., leaders in the competitor intelligence field.
• EDGAR -- U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. contains detailed company financial information.

• Fortune Lists-- includes the Fortune 500, Fortune Global 500, Best Companies for Minorities, 100 Fastest Growing Companies, and Fortune e-50.
• Hoover's--offers all kinds of data, including thumbnail sketches of thousands of companies, links to corporate homepages, stock information, and more.
• Iowa Corporation Search -- retrieve information on Iowa corporations, such as officers, date incorporated, etc.
• MergerStat -- information on recent mergers and acquisitions; also includes full-text of SEC filings
• NAICS (North American Industry Classification System)--The NAICS replaces the old SIC; it includes 358 new industries. The next site below offers a correspondence between the two systems.
• NAICS and SIC Correspondence Tables -- compare where the two are different.
• OfficialFind -- a search engine devoted to finding the 'official' homepages of corporations and more.
• Quad Cities Business Journal -- information on local businesses. 
• SIC (Standard Industrial Classification Scheme)-- here is how to find out what the SIC number is for a company's product or service, although keep in mind the new NAICS has replaced it!
• U.S. Public Companies -- gather the latest news, stock quotes, charts and press releases on one page along with links to analyst ratings, SEC filings, key players and competitors.
• Vault Reports--"the Jobseeker's Secret Weapon." Profiles of major employers based on interviews with people who've worked there, tell about the kind of organization it is, the benefits and drawbacks of working there.
