Genetics and Biotechnology

  • BioChip Technologies -- contains more than 11.000 well structured up-to-date records on the following topics: companies and institutions involved in microarray technology, microarray-relevant publications, comprehensive glossary, upcoming biochip-related meetings and conferences, hyperlinks to public databases (MedLine, stock exchange markets, patent offices).
  • Biosafety Information Network and Advisory Service (BINAS)--an international organization that updates on biotech regulation worldwide, and safety issues.  (currently under construction, check back later)
  • BioTech: includes a dictionary, educational guides on biotechnology topics, info on grad programs, jobs, links to journals, newsletters, organizations.
  • Biotechnology Information Center, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture -- up in April 2002.
  • Glossary of Genetic Terms -- from the National Human Genome Research Institute, includes written definitions with illustrations and audio explanations, plus links to related topics.
  • Information Systems for Biotechnology--"resources to support the environmentally responsible use of agricultural biotechnology products. Here you will find documents and searchable databases pertaining to the development, testing and regulatory review of genetically modified plants, animals and microorganisms within the U.S."
  • Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes
  • Mendelian Inheritance in Man: the Human Genome Database. Searchable.
  • Mendel's Paper--Mendel's text 'Experiments in Plant Hybridization', with links to commentaries & other related material.
  • National Center for Biotechnology Information--including the Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM), the Unique Human Gene Sequence Collection, Gene Map of the Human Genome, and lots more.
  • Science.gov --a gateway to authoritative selected science information provided by U.S. Government agencies, including research and development results.
