Ethics and Codes of Conduct

  • Essays on Science and Society--from Science, in honor of the 150th anniversary of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
  • Ethical Research--guidelines and codes from various institutions and professional science organizations.
  • Ethics in Science--includes a bibliography, course outlines, and selected essays.
  • Online Ethics Center for Engineering and Science--presents codes of ethics, case studies and ethical dilemmas, and suggestions for ethical decision making. It also provides the correct citation for their pages, both APA and MLA, click here.
  • Politics and Science -- "The American people depend upon federal agencies to develop science-based policies that protect the nation’s health and welfare. Recently, however, leading scientific journals have begun to question whether scientific integrity at federal agencies has been sacrificed to further a political and ideological agenda. At the request of Rep. Henry A. Waxman, the Democratic staff of the Government Reform Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives assessed the treatment of science and scientists by the Bush Administration."
  • Responsible Conduct In Research--published by the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine in 1995 and remains an essential source for current information on many aspects of scientific conduct.
