Info: Information on rare, threatened and endangered mammals
- Biodiversity
Conservation Information System--"joint initiative of
eleven programmes and partners of IUCN-The World Conservation Union,
the Biodiversity Conservation Information System (BCIS) seeks to
support environmentally sound decision-making and actions affecting
the status of biodiversity and landscapes at the local, national,
regional and global levels through cooperative provision of data,
information, advice and related services."
- Chemical
Scorecard--a wonderful interactive source from the
Environmental Defense Fund allows you to type in your zip code and
find out what companies are dumping how much of what chemical
contaminants, what health effects, if known, these chamicals have, and
how your county compares with other counties in the state. It also
includes a form for faxing your questions or complaints directly to
the companies.

Conservation
Database--an "online database holds more than
450 different variables, as national, subregional, regional
and global statistics or as geospatial data sets (maps), covering themes
like Freshwater, Population, Forests, Emissions, Climate, Disasters,
Health and GDP. Display them on-the-fly as
maps,
graphs,
data tables or download the data in different formats."

of Energy Research Areas --the old searchable index and full text database
of all research done by and for the Department of Energy since 1996,
with projects in biology, environment, physics, chemistry, and
engineering has now been discontinued and research made a little
harder to get. However, this site will direct you to areas that you
can then see a listing of papers and reports. I guess we should be
thankful they are there at all these days.
- Ecosystem
Management Analysis Center--from the Forest Service, offers
assistance, data, and training.
- The
Environment: Understanding the Issue -- The Understanding the
Issue section lays out the facts and policy alternatives, while the
Public Opinion section offers a detailed profile of public thinking
about the issue.

- Environmental
Data Interactive Exchange (EDIE)--a service that delivers more
to registered users nonetheless contains research reports, news, a job
service, training information, etc.

Protection Agency--enormous quantities of both data and legal
information here. Your basic starting point.

Forest Watch -- maps covering close to half of the world's
forests and their decline.

GreenFILE
indexes
scholarly and general interest titles, as well as government documents
and reports. This resource offers a unique perspective on the positive
and negative ways humans affect the environment. Drawing on the
connection between the environment and disciplines such as agriculture,
education, law, health and technology, GreenFILE serves as an
informative resource for anyone concerned about the issues facing our
planet. The database contains nearly 300,000 records, full text for
selected titles and searchable cited references for more than 200 titles
as well.

Geophysical Data Center--basic climate, geophysical and
environmental data from National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration.

Interagency Fire Center--NIFC is the nation's support center for wildland firefighting.
It is an excellent site which includes statistics,
articles and numerous, authoritative links.
- Urban
Environmental Management --includes full text documents and
articles, statistics, glossary of terms, practical "how to"
case studies.

Water -- provides information and data about global freshwater
problems and solutions. Includes a Water Conflict Chronology.
