Answers to Anonymous Questions

RE:  I am researching call numbers of books for a professor.  Is there a website that I can go to that has tons of books?  Many of the books are older and not in the QuadLinc libraries.

Answer:  Try using the WorldCat database in FirstSearch.  FirstSearch is available from the "Databases" page of the library website.  You will need an authorization number and password.  The password is available only to currently enrolled students or faculty and staff.  You must personally contact the Reference Desk to get the password.  The WorldCat database has books and other materials that can be found in libraries all over the United States.

Re: What does the name "O'Keefe" mean?:

Answer:  O'Keefe is an Irish name meaning descendant of Caomh', or "gentle" and "kind".

--from the Dictionary of Surnames, p. 291.

RE: I need information about women in hand-to-hand combat.

Answer:  In the QuadLinc Library Catalog, type in "woman and combat" as an "all words" search.  There are several books were this is addressed.  In EbscoHost (a magazine/journal database), use the same words to find magazine and journal articles.  For additional help, stop in the library and ask the reference librarian to help you.  She will be glad to sit down with you and show you how to use the databases and find the material you need.
